Guatemala

What can I expect from Guatemala?

Guatemala is an incredible travel destination, not only because you will see colourful towns, historic Maya ruins and the deepest lake in Central America, but also because you can hike to an active volcano and see eruptions with lava super close! It’s surprising that so many people don’t know much about Guatemala, because it has so much to offer.

“Lake Atitlan”

“Lake Atitlan”

The most popular places to visit in Guatemala are Antigua and Lake Atitlan. Antigua is a small colonial town, close to Guatemala City and famous for its surrounding volcanoes. It’s the starting point of the Acatenango and the Pacaya hike. On the Acatenango hike you can see volcano Fuego, which is active and erupts every 10 minutes. If there is one thing you should do in Guatemala, it’s this hike.

But that’s not the only reason why you should travel to Guatemala. You will not only be able to explore colourful towns and hike volcanoes, you can also swim in Central America’s deepest lake, go surfing at the coast and hike to ancient Maya ruins in the jungle. Guatemala is a country of contrasts and a destination you will never forget.
