Germany

What can I expect from Germany?

Germany is a fascinating country with lots of historical cities, fairytale-like castles and beautiful nature – and I don’t say this because I’m German! Germany actually has quite a few historical cities that make you feel like you just traveled in time. It is said that the oldest city of Germany was founded in 16 BC. Many people think of Germany as the fairytale country, because there are so many castles that look like the movie set of Rapunzel or Cinderella. Apart from that Germany has different landscapes in the country. The north is mostly flat and the south has great mountains. Apart from that Germany has many lakes throughout the country.

For travelers Germany is a very safe place to travel and most people speak very good English. Funny is that when you ask Germans if they speak English, most they will answer something like “just a little bit” and then speak perfect sentences and will have no trouble with having a conversation. This is simply because most Germans think of themselves that their English isn’t great, but in fact most have a pretty good knowledge of English, so don’t be afraid to talk to them! Foreigners and other cultures are welcome and accepted. You will see that the cities are very international and diversity is the most normal thing in the world.

The most popular cities in Germany are Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich to just name a few. When planning a trip to Germany I would recommend you to visit the cities Munich and Berlin, see some castles like Neuschwanstein, do a hike in the mountains and eat a German meal: Schnitzel (there are vegan options in some restaurants) with red cabbage, mashed potatoes and a beer. We are famous for our beer. The more time you have, the better!

Germany Travel Guides

Below you will find different blog posts about Germany. As mentioned before, Germany has a lot to offer from beautiful cities, fairytale castles, forests, lakes, mountains, beaches and great food! The best time to visit Germany is from May to September when it’s warm and the days are longer. Apart from that December is a wonderful time, because you can visit German Christmas markets! If you have any questions about traveling Germany, don’t hesitate to send me an email! I answer every email I get.

Useful travel tips

1
Travel with the ICE train It's super easy and comfortable to travel by train in Germany. If you want to see different cities it's best to buy your train ticket in advance, because the prices change with time. The ICE trains are the fastest ones that don't stop as often as the regional trains. The best way to use it is to download the Deutsch Bahn App. On this app you can plan your trip and you will get a digital ticket that they will scan once you are on the train.
2
Good timing Avoid visiting cities during school holidays or when they have trade fairs and exhibitions, because the prices will go up a lot. During exhibitions it’s almost impossible to find a budget-friendly accommodation. I would recommend you to visit Germany in summer, because the weather is really great, or winter to see the Christmas markets.
